Why paint?
Why paint? Firstly I do it for myself, and once the artwork is varnished, it belongs to all. After 20 years of exploring and living life as a creative person, painting is fulfilling my most profound need to connect to the world, communicate my vision and prayers. As an abstract figurative painter, I intend to imbue each brushstroke with an emotion, not seeking perfection but to be a witness of my surroundings.
I take inspiration from my surroundings, the northern California light and its fog, the place a body occupies in space, time and culture, the scar on a friend's cheek, the shadow casts by my dog at the beach.
Admittingly so, my exploration of painting is my long journey to fulfillment.
